Jade Windley, a former professional tennis player inspires students 🎾

Our skills for work students learn a range of tennis skills with a former professional tennis player Jade Windley as part of the Beyond the Baseline programme 🎾

Jade Windley, came into college last week to deliver the first of 3 sessions of this programme. Grantham College is one of five colleges to be chosen to pilot this programme and is run jointly by the Tennis Foundation and Youth Sport Trust 😊

Jade has played at Wimbledon, represented Great Britain and won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games. Jade said “The idea of inspiring young pupils and nurturing their aspirations seemed like a very appealing position to be in. Having played on the professional tennis tour for over 6 years, facing numerous challenges along the way and eventually achieving my own dream of competing in the main draw at Wimbledon, I believed that I could help set young students on the right path to achieving their own goals.” ✨

The project will see the skills for work students hear Jade’s inspirational story, work on their life skills, take part in practical sessions and wrap up the project by leading other young people in a range of tennis activities. 🎾
