The sport and leisure industry has expanded rapidly in response to the focus on healthy lifestyles and fitness in society and has become even more popular after the success of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
We offer a range of Sports courses which are taught by a team who have a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills to pass on to students.
Staff have a wide range of qualifications including degrees in Physical Education and Education, BA (Hons) Leisure Studies, MA Sport and Leisure Management, PGCE Education, MSc Sociology of Sport and Sports Management, and BSc (Hons) Sport Studies and Geology.
The Sports courses are taught in a range of environments, including a dedicated gym and sports hall where you will gain practical and hands-on knowledge of the sector. You will also take part in trips, work experience and class tasks to strengthen your skills.
The courses on offer will give you the chance to learn more about this fast-growing area.
On successful completion of your course, there will be plenty of opportunities for work in areas such as coaching, fitness or facility management, or to go on to university or continue your studies here at college on the HNC/D Sports Coaching & Sports Development course.
Alongside studying a course at Grantham College you can also be a part of our world-renowned Table Tennis Academy.
Grantham College launched the Table Tennis Academy in September 2002. This initiative, the first in the UK, allows both local, national and international players to take advantage of a variety of specialist training facilities at the college to improve their level of play and help them to reach their full potential within the game.
The college benefits from some fantastic facilities including a large sports hall with specialist flooring, in which the table tennis coaching takes place.
If you apply to the Table Tennis Academy, you must be at least 16 years of age at the start of your course. Your Table Tennis level will be analysed on an individual basis. You will be invited to an interview where you will play in one of the sessions and we will require a reference from your coach so we can ensure we provide you with the best programme for your needs.
