We understand that studying at college may cause financial problems and our Student Finance team may be able to help.
We have a Student Finance department that provides both existing and prospective students with advice and guidance in relation to Student Finance, while also providing financial support to students studying at Grantham College.

Free Meal – Student Eligibility
|
Students on a low income or who are from low income families can apply to the Discretionary Learner Support fund for financial assistance where there is a genuine financial barrier to participation such as the costs of course fees, registration fees, transport, materials and equipment. Financial assistance towards childcare costs is also available for students aged 20 years old and over.

Aged 19+ and applying for a Level 3 or higher level course?
A loan called the Advanced Learner Loan is now available for those aged 19 and over to receive help with the costs of your college tuition fees for Level 3 – Level 6 courses. This is a great way to access courses that previously, for financial reasons, may have been out of your reach!

We know that it might not be easy for you to get into college especially if you live out of the Grantham area. We want you to know that we are here to provide help and, if you are under 19 at the start of your course, support towards applying for travel assistance from your local council. |

Transport and Travel Information
|
If you are aged 16–19 and are in care, a care leaver or receive income support in your own right, you may be entitled to a bursary of up to £1,200 per year. Please let us know if that applies to you as soon as possible!

If you are applying for Further Education programmes, you must firstly apply to your Local Education Authority (LEA) for assistance with travel. If your LEA is unable to help, there may be support available from the college.

Higher Education Bursary
If you are studying a Higher National Certificates, Higher National Diplomas or Foundation Degree you may be eligible for the Higher Education Bursary. This bursary may be able to support you with Childcare costs, Essential Kit or book costs and Transport/Travel costs.
Higher Education Tuition Fee Loan
You can apply to Student Finance England for a Tuition Fee Loan. You can do this even if you have not had your place on the course confirmed. You can apply online directly with Student Finance England at www.gov.uk/apply-online-for-student-finance
