Financial Support

Thank you for visiting the Financial Support page.

If you’re facing financial barriers, we’re here to help you access the support you may be eligible for while you study.

Below you’ll find information on the financial support that may be available to you, including free college meals, bursary support, our eligibility guide, our financial support policy and links to external support services.

The online application portal PayMyStudent is due to go live on 3rd August 2026.

Once the portal is live, all bursary applications and Free College Meals applications must be submitted through the online portal with your supporting evidence.

Before applying for any financial support, please read our Eligibility Guide & Financial Support Policy.

Financial Support that may be available

The discretionary support fund is subject to eligibility in line with guidance from Department for Education (DfE), Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority (GLCCA) and the availability of funds.

We have a duty of care to ensure bursary support is distributed fairly to ALL eligible students and limits to the total amount awarded are in place to enable us to do this.

Support that may be available to you can include:

  • Travel – further education students must apply to their Local Education Authority (LEA) first. If support is not available and you live more than 3 miles from Grantham College, support may be available via the bursary.
  • College meals
  • Kit, uniform, books and equipment that is essential to completing your course
  • Educational trips and visits as approved by Grantham college
  • Other course-related expenses as approved by Grantham college
  • Childcare costs
  • Examination resit costs

Please be advised that bursary funds are limited but we understand that studying at college may cause financial problems and our Student Finance department may be able to provide both existing and prospective students with financial support to students studying at Grantham College.

Important Information

Bursary Applications can only be assessed once you:

  • Are fully enrolled at Grantham College
  • Have applied via PayMyStudent
  • Have submitted all required evidence
  • Due to the high volume of applications we receive, particularly at the start of the academic year, please allow up to 28 days for processing.
  • Until you receive your first approved award, it is your responsibility to cover any associated costs, including (but not limited to) meals, travel, kit, uniform, equipment, educational trips, examination fees and any other course-related costs. The College aims to provide financial support as early as possible.
  • Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified via a letter sent to their student email address and/or onto their portal account PayMyStudent.
  • If you are dissatisfied with the outcome, you may appeal by following our appeals process, details of which will be included in the letter and is also detailed within our financial policy.

We kindly ask that you allow the full processing period of 28 days before contacting Student Finance if you have not received an update.
