How do I apply?

An application pack comprising of an application form, Diversity, Equality and Inclusion form, guidance notes on how to complete the application and the job description and person specification are all available to download from our website.

It is strongly recommended you read the job description and person specification carefully before completing the application form. CV’s can not be accepted as an alternative to an application form

What if I do not meet the criteria within the person specification, can I still apply?

You are welcome to make contact with us to discuss how we can support you and potentially offer some development opportunities.

What happens to my application form once it has been received?

After the closing date, the recruiting manager reviews the applications and shortlists candidates for interview, based on if they meet the criteria within the person specification.

How will I know if I have been selected for interview?

Candidates will be shortlisted and invited to an interview. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applicants it is not possible to contact everyone who has applied, therefore if you do not hear from us within four weeks of the closing day your application has have been successful on this occasion.  

If I need assistance with my application and interview, who should I ask?

Please contact the HR team, who will support in the facilitation of any reasonable adjustments.

Can I register my DBS on the update service after I receive my certificate for Grantham College?

Yes.  If you have an enhanced DBS certificate you can register for the Update Service within 30 days of the certificate being issued by contacting DBS customer services on customerservices@dbs.gov.uk or Telephone: 0300 0200 190.

How is the data needed to administer my application collected and stored?

Data is collected and stored in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018. You can read the full Privacy notice here

I am traveling to the College via public transport, how close is the College?

The College is approximately one mile from Grantham train station and is 0.7 of a mile from the bus station. You are able to walk from both stations to the College.

Where should I park when I arrive for an interview?

Free parking is available when you arrive at our campus on Stonebridge Road, Grantham. As you approach the entrance, press the communications button to speak to a member of the reception team who will be expecting you. Upon entry, park immediately to the right in the visitor parking area.

Where will my interview be held and what will the format be?

We ordinarily arrange interviews in person on our campus, however in exceptional circumstances we do hold them on Microsoft Teams. Your interview invitation correspondence will confirm how your interview will be held along with the necessary details provided.  

The interview will be held with two members of the Grantham College team, interview questions will be asked, and you may have been asked to prepare some materials to deliver as part of your interview or maybe given a task to complete. You will be informed of the precise format when you are formally invited for your interview.

What should I bring with me to the interview?

Bring documentation to evidence your eligibility to work in the UK, the documents you provide must be originals.

If you have a DBS, bring the original certificate with you in order for us to be able to review it. If your DBS is on the update service, we will ask for your consent to check your certificate online.

Please also bring with you all qualification certificates that are listed on your application form, even if they are not relevant to the role you have applied for.

How will I be informed of the interview outcome?

The recruiting managers will make arrangements at the end of the interview to contact you and give you a timescale of when to expect this contact. The College policy is to contact all of the interview candidates by telephone to confirm the outcome either way. 

What does a conditional offer mean?

We are committed to promoting and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. As part of our safer recruitment process all offers are subject to:

•           Receipt of an acceptable self-funded Disclosure and Barring System (DBS) disclosure. Upon receipt of the from DBS please can we ask that you bring in your original certificate in order for us to be able to take a photocopy to be held on your personnel file for a period of 6 months.

•           A satisfactory Prohibition check.

•           Receipt of two satisfactory references.  One of the references must be provided by your current or most recent employer.

•           Copies of all qualification certificates listed on your application form – even if they are not relevant to the job role.
