Our Health & Social Care courses will provide you with both theoretical knowledge and practical learning through our placements programme – where you can gain hands-on experience in a variety of settings.
You’ll be taught by a team of staff with over 30 years’ industry experience and 20 years’ teaching experience between them, so you’ll have the chance to benefit from their knowledge, skills and experience and see how theory relates to real life.
Staff are also able to provide the opportunity for accurate and reflective practice to support students’ learning, especially with regards to professional skills and development.
All staff in the department have worked in a variety of settings including the NHS, community care, private-sector care homes and Local Authority schools.
All staff are fully qualified teachers in addition to practising professionals, enabling current and up-to-date information to be incorporated into teaching and learning.
Students also have the opportunity to engage in residential trips to Sweden where they have the chance to undertake vocational practice.
“The health and social care course has given me a better understanding of the career path that I chose and to have a better understanding of what’s expected, the values and knowledge that I would need to care for people. It has given me an opportunity to gain real work experience at a care home and given me an opportunity to see what it is like to work in the Health Care sector. I was able to interact with service users and other healthcare professionals that you wouldn’t have been able to do on an A Level course.” Jehanne Royales - Level 3 Health & Social Care Course
