Grantham College is dedicated to offering students the latest resources and knowledge and is proud to announce the introduction of new industry-standard filming and editing equipment for its media classrooms.

The College’s continued investment in technology will revolutionise the way media students at the college hone their skills and prepare for exciting careers in the dynamic world of media and entertainment.

“Our vision is to provide an environment that mirrors real-world scenarios, allowing our media students to push artistic boundaries and develop essential technical skills. Grantham College is committed to ensuring that our students are equipped with the industry-standard tools they need to excel in their chosen careers.”

James Meenaghan – Head of IT Services

The 3 new Media Mac suites and green screen studio space at Grantham College will allow students to explore advanced technology and techniques crucial for success in the industry, in areas including filmmaking, audio production and photography. With an impressive array of equipment including Apple Mac Studios, Industry standard Cinema-grade cameras, cinema lenses, 360 cameras, drones, high-end audio and lighting equipment.

Students will learn several production processes, including how to light, shoot, edit films, documentaries and advertisements. This is supported by full access to the Adobe suite and production crate, allowing the students to develop their skills in sound design, editing and visual effects. Not only will they gain exposure to cutting-edge technology, but they will also sharpen their creative skills, enhancing their storytelling abilities and helping them stand out from the crowd in the competitive media landscape.

The College’s investment in high-end, industry-standard Sony, Panasonic and Black Magic video cameras will enable both our further and Higher education students the opportunity to expand their technical skill set alongside a growing theoretical awareness, leaving the course with a working knowledge of operating cameras that have been used in major TV documentaries, and Hollywood film production.

Our facilities ensure that students will receive unparalleled hands-on experience in film production and post-production whether they choose to stay with us to degree level or head straight into industry.

Grantham College Media students have seen their work showcased on BBC Children in Need, BBC Look North, and the social media pages of the published children’s book series Jonnie Rocket.
