VTCT Diploma Barbering (Full Level 2)

Overview

The Level 2 Diploma in Barbering is a substantial vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed men’s hairdresser.

This qualification allows learners to gather evidence in a realistic working environment. On completion of this qualification you will become a qualified junior men’s hairdresser.

Course Details

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior men’s hairdresser. Mandatory units include:

  • Health & Safety
  • Client consultation
  • Shampoo & conditioning hair
  • Research unit - working in the hair industry
  • Basic cutting including facial hair & styling men’s hair

You will also develop your understanding and skills by selecting a number of optional specialist units

Assessment

Practical Observations. Written Assignments. Oral Questioning. Online Examination.

Fees & Funding

Sixteen / Eighteen

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.

Level 2 / Level 3

Students enrolling onto their first full Level 2 or Level 3 course or below who are aged between 19 and 23 may be able to enrol for free. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Low Income / Unemployed Seeking Work

Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £20,319 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.

Additional Information

A uniform consisting of a tunic, trousers and a badge will be required to study this course and a barbering kit will also need to be purchased through the college. Smart black, rubber soled and closed in shoes of your own choice will also be needed. Bursaries can be applied for to support you with these purchases. Bursary conditions can be provided by the college’s support staff.

Your Next Steps

On successful completion of this qualification you will be able to progress to a Level 3 qualification in Barbering. You will also be eligible to become a graduate State Registered Barber (SRB) with The Hairdressing Council and gain employment in the industry or become self-employed as a Barber.
