Digital Skills Bootcamp - Cyber Security (Level 3)

Overview

This course presents an introduction to cyber security following the Cisco Cyber Security Essentials course.  Learn the essentials of cyber security and build your skills to better protect your digital information from security threats.

Am I Ready?

Minimum grade 4 in GCSE Maths and English.  Skills Bootcamps are open to all adults aged 19 or over, who are full-time or part-time employed, self-employed, unemployed (i.e., not in work), as well as adults returning to work after a break.

Course Details

On this course, you’ll discover tips and strategies to protect your data on a network, including firewalls and VPNs. You’ll also explore intrusion detection systems (IDS) and honeypots to detect attacks.  Assess the current threat landscape and how to protect against it.  Discover the uses of cryptography and network encryption

  • Gain hands-on experience of cyber security techniques
  • Understand vulnerabilities within cyber security in the home and the workplace.
  • Use tools to detect cyber security vulnerabilities.
Assessment

In order to successfully achieve this qualification a learner must fully meet all of the learning outcomes. Course work, assignments and cyber security project.

Your Next Steps

This could lead into a full-time HE study at Grantham College or a route into the cyber security sector as either an apprentice or employee. Additionally this course will also help with advancement within an existing cyber security career.
