BTEC One Year National Diploma Creative Media Practice (Level 3)

This course would be suitable for those interested in pursuing careers in the creative industries. As we cover such a broad spectrum of media disciplines and practical skills, you will be ideally placed to make an informed decision about which area of the creative industry you may wish to specialise in before taking your next steps onto HE or into the workplace.

Course Details

This course is designed to provide you with the very best skills to enter a fast-moving, creative and expanding industry.

Creative digital media skills can lead to a range of diverse careers. Employers are looking for those who have good technical skills to develop moving image, photography, audio, animation and visual effects. You will develop your ideas from the planning and pre-production stages through to post-production and audience feedback. You will learn to research and plan a production, taking into account the logistics and technologies required.

You will study subjects such as:

  • Film production
  • Advertisement production
  • Factual production
  • Digital photography
  • 2D animation
  • Visual effects
  • Film & sound editing

100% internally set and assessed units, made up of two teaching modules per year – teaching content is defined in two large blocks, this allows deep and integrated delivery of content. There are four assessment units across the specification, two in the 540 Diploma and a further two in the Extended Diploma.

Level 4 optional unit – the final assessment in the Extended Diploma offers students the option of producing additional evidence to demonstrate ability at Level 4, supporting them in achieving their aims for progression onto higher education.

Assessment

The assessment method is 100 percent internally assessed coursework. The two year programme is comprised of 4 units, which are each broken down into smaller projects that will make up the final assessment. The technical skills explored within these qualification will range from Film making, visual effects, animation, photography and sound design for film as well as script writing. All of which will be underpinned by the key planning and communication skills necessary to be successful in the creative industries.

Fees & Funding

Sixteen / Eighteen

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.

Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government.

Adult Learning Loan

Advanced Learning Loan to help with college fees on applicable course. Students won’t have to pay anything back until the end of their course and are earning £27,295 per year. Household income isn’t taken into account and there’s no credit check. Eligibility is dependent on course, nationality, and age to meet the ESFA funding eligibility criteria.

Your Next Steps

On completion of this course there is the opportunity to progress to the HNC/HND Digital Film & Media Production course here at Grantham College or on to another University. You can also progress straight into employment within the creative media industry.
