Learners studying in preparation for employment in Media. Learners wishing to gain a Level 2 qualification to support further study in Further Education (FE) in Media. Learners wishing to gain a Level 2 qualification to supportfurther study in FE in any other sector or subject area.
The entry requirements for this course are 2 GCSEs at grades 4-9.
Over the course of the year, learners will receive challenging and enjoyable projects across five mandatory content areas: investigation; communication; practical skills; development; approach. These areas will be explored through many creative projects across units such as Audio Production, Film and TV, Photography, Radio Production, Documentary Production and many more.
Previous projects have had students working alongside the cast of the Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia cast, developing the Jonnie Rocket comic book franchise and creating original pieces of work with the help of industry trained staff and guest speakers.
Learners will also gain real world experience working for clients as well as making contacts in the industry. They will also gain transferable skills, including leadership, teamwork and communication in a safe and enjoyable environment.
The units in this qualification are internally assessed by centre assessors and quality assurance personnel and externally moderated by BTEC Visiting Moderators.
Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.
