NCFE Certificate Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health (Level 2)

Overview

This qualification is suitable for anyone looking to increase their knowledge of children and young people’s mental health. On completion of the qualification, learners will develop knowledge of children and young people’s mental health in context, mental health problems commonly associated with children and young people, the impact of mental ill-health on children and young people and support available to maintain mental wellbeing in children and young people.

Am I Ready?

There are no formal entry requirements however learners should be aged 19 or above at the start of the academic year to undertake this qualification.  Learners must be able to read and understand the learning resources and complete the written work with moderate assistance and will therefore benefit from having a reasonable understanding of reading and writing the English language. Course Details

YOU CAN START THIS COURSE AT ANY TIME THROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC YEAR BUT THERE IS AN EXPECTATION THAT YOU WILL COMPLETE WITHIN TWELVE WEEKS.  FAILURE TO COMPLETE THE COURSE WILL INCUR A £50 ADMINISTRATION CHARGE.

There are two modules to complete and learners must achieve all of the following mandatory units:

Unit 01 Understand children and young people’s mental health in context;

Unit 02 Understand factors which may affect children and young people’s mental health;

Unit 03 Understand children and young people’s mental health concerns;

Unit 04 Understand the impact of children and young people’s mental health concerns;

Unit 05 Understand how to support children and young people with mental health concerns.

Assessment

Learners will be provided with all the necessary materials to complete the programme and will have the opportunity to work through a series of reflective activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge. The learning materials also include an assessment, which allows learners to complete a portfolio of evidence and demonstrates achievement of all learning outcomes associated with each unit. A comprehensive tutor guide is supplied to accompany these materials. All units will be individually internally assessed

Fees & Funding

Low Income / Unemployed Seeking Work

Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £20,319 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.

By undertaking this programme, candidates will be able to further their own continuous professional development, which may improve their career prospects. Alternatively, they can progress on to further qualifications such as courses in health and social care or other related subjects on offer at Grantham College.
