Senior Learning Support Assistant

Salary: This is a part time role with an actual salary of up to £14,063.32 per annum, and a full-time equivalent salary of up to £24,435 per annum dependant on skills and experience.

Working Hours: 20.5 hours per week over 4 days, 41 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Learning Support Assistant to join our Learning Support department.

The purpose of the role is to provide support to learners with physical and/or learning needs within small groups or individually.

The successful applicant must have:

  • An awareness of disabilities and an awareness of barriers to learning
  • Experience working with young people in educational, youth work or similar OR Supporting young people in secondary schools or Further Education
  • Flexible with regard to learners supported

The roles main duties include:

  • Taking responsibility for collating LSA timetables within mainstream and ensuring that these are updated as required
  • Arranging cover for absent colleagues within the support team and where necessary to step in and provide cover for LSAs within the classroom
  • Checking that LSA pay claims are submitted correctly and timely
  • Providing cover for SEND Co-ordinator when working remotely or on day off
  • Working with non EHCP students, writing programmes of support and carrying out reviews
  • Carrying out LSA appraisals and lesson observations in a timely manner
  • Supporting learners with physical/learning difficulties
  • Assisting students with learning needs to have full access to the college facilities
  • Liaising with academic staff and the SEND Co-ordinator regarding progression of learners on their main stream programme

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.

Grantham College operate a 4-day working week. Staff benefit from working a full-time contract over four days. You will work core hours of Monday to Thursday, working a Friday morning once a month
