AAT Lecturer and Assessor

Salary: This is a part time role with an actual salary of up to £28,194.55 per annum, and a full-time equivalent salary of up to £41,352 per annum dependant on skills and experience.

Working Hours: 22.5 hours per week over 4 days, 52 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an AAT Lecturer and Assessor to join our Business department.

The purpose of the role is to deliver and assess across various AAT qualifications for both students and apprentices.

The successful applicant must have:

  • A comprehensive knowledge of Accountancy competency-based qualifications and current standards
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Accountancy Apprenticeship Standards
  • Teaching qualification – PGCE; PTLLS, DTLLS or equivalent
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet targets
  • Enthusiastic, motivated and able to work using own initiative
  • Effective organisational, administrative and communication skills
  • Demonstrate professionalism and work with a range of individuals to meet set team objectives
  • Inspire and empower individuals, sharing knowledge to support achievement
  • Employer relationship management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to foster good relationships with relevant stakeholders, colleagues and students
  • The ability to work on own initiative and remotely with minimum supervision
  • The ability to effectively manage a cohort of learners and complete in a timely manner, while meeting IQA/EQA and EPA standards
  • Experience of working on standard Microsoft software packages

The roles main duties include:

  • To teach, using an appropriate mix of traditional, e-learning and blended learning approaches, on a range of AAT courses.
  • To take responsibility for specific levels within the curriculum area.
  • To provide support and guidance to students and apprentices.
  • To operate as an effective member of relevant course teams and to work closely with other areas.
  • To keep all records necessary for the efficient running of courses and monitoring of learners
  • To be actively involved in curriculum development and planning
  • To maintain the course quality logs and ensure that all College/Department quality control systems operate effectively and are up to date
  • To undertake appropriate staff development and training including the maintenance and updating of specialist skills
  • To manage, attend and actively participate in team meetings and facilitate student meetings
  • To liaise with internal/external verifiers and moderators as required
  • To assist in the preparation and submission of new programmes to appropriate awarding bodies
  • Ownership of a caseload of apprentices, developing plans to deliver the assessment criteria to meet the requirements of the qualification and standards.
  • Completion of effective training plans, carrying these out to ensure the college funding and awarding body requirements are compliant.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely administrative records associated with assessing, including monitoring and progress tracking records, three-way-reviews, OTJ training logs, observation reports, and evaluations to a satisfactory standard. Ensuring the required administration is complete relating to all areas of employer and learner activity, and learner achievement and College guidelines, within established deadlines.
  • Conducting visits to work-based learners and apprentices to carry out regular reviews within the funding requirements of the apprenticeship standard/framework. 
  • Working closely with the marketing team and Apprentice Administration team to ensure continuous recruitment.

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.

Grantham College operate a 4-day working week. Staff benefit from working a full-time contract over four days. You will work core hours of Monday to Thursday, working a Friday morning once a month
