Learning Support Assistant

Salary: This is a part time role with an actual salary of £3,471.53 and a full-time equivalent salary of up to £23,098 per annum dependent on skills and experience.

Working Hours: 6 hours per week worked over 36 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Assistant to join our ALS department.

The purpose of the role is to provide support to learners with physical and/or learning needs within small groups or individually.

The successful applicant must have:

The roles main duties include:

  • Carrying out the duties of a LSA, supporting learners on individual/small group programmes agreed with the SEND team.
  • Supporting learners with physical/learning difficulties.
  • Assisting students with needs to have full access to the college facilities e.g. Refectory, Library, e-learning centre.
  • Liaising with academic staff and the SEND Co-ordinator regarding progression of learners on their main stream programme.
  • Assisting the SEND Coordinator with routine administrative tasks.
  • Assisting with preparation of learning support documentation and materials.
  • Attending Learning Support Team meetings.
  • Operating flexibly recognising the requirements of the learner and the requirements of classes/timetables.

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.

Grantham College operate a 4-day working week. Staff benefit from working a full-time contract over four days. You will work core hours of Monday to Thursday, working a Friday morning once a month.
