English Lecturer – Part Time

Salary: This is a part time role with an actual salary of up to £18,367.50 per annum, and a full-time equivalent salary of up to £36,735 per annum dependent on skills and experience.

Working Hours: 16.5 hours per week, Monday and Tuesday, 52 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an English Lecturer to join our Skills for life department.

The purpose of the role is to demonstrate a high-quality professional practice and provide quality teaching, learning and assessment at a variety of levels and to devise action plans and maintain appropriate records.

The roles main duties include:

  • Teaching, using an appropriate mix of traditional, e-learning and blended learning approaches, on a range of courses within the curriculum area and across areas
  • Taking responsibility for specific areas of work within the curriculum area including course leadership if required
  • Supporting and embed the Study Programme
  • Supporting the college and the team in preparation for the Education Inspection Framework
  • Providing support and guidance to students
  • Operating as an effective member of relevant course teams and to work closely with other areas
  • Carrying out administrative duties associated with teaching, including maintenance of registers, schemes of work, assessments, reports, course records and course evaluations to a satisfactory standard and within established deadlines
  • Ensuring safe working practices are observed by yourself and others (including students) for whom you are responsible
  • Providing such returns or reports as required by the Curriculum Manager or College
  • Assisting in the recruitment of students, including interviewing and enrolments
  • Assisting in the marketing of the College provision through attendance at Careers Conventions, Open Days and other promotional events
  • Assisting in the development of curriculum support materials
  • Assisting with programmes of work experience and/or industrial and commercial liaison, including the organisation and monitoring of work experience placements
  • Assisting with the enrolment process, including initial and diagnostic assessments to support the students’ progression
  • Supporting the improvement of High Grades within the area for GCSE
  • Participating with SAR

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.

Grantham College operate a 4-day working week. Staff benefit from working a full-time contract over four days. You will work core hours of Monday to Thursday, working a Friday morning once a month

The number of staff sickness absence days has reduced alongside the energy usage for the college and therefore its carbon emissions.
