Childcare Assessor

Salary: This is a part time role with an actual salary of up to £4,629.56 per annum, and a full-time equivalent salary of up to £30,803 per annum dependent on skills and experience.

Working Hours: 6 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Childcare Assessor to join our Health and Social Care department.

The purpose of the role is to manage/coordinate and assess industry placements for T level learners to ensure they develop knowledge and skills required by the qualification and workplace.

The successful applicant must have:

  • Relevant assessor qualification – TAQA or equivalent OR a willingness to work towards and achieve this qualification within an agreed timeframe.
  • Maths and English Functional skills level 2 or equivalent
  • Experience working in an early year’s environment and evidence of continuous professional development in the sector
  • Experience of assessing candidates in the workplace and tracking learners and reporting against learning plan outcomes.
  • Experience of delivering outcome focussed, accredited training programmes
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Child Care competency-based qualifications and current standards and of Child Care Frameworks including technical certificates
  • Able to work on own initiative and remotely with minimum supervision
  • Experience of employer relationship management and the ability to foster good relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and working on standard Microsoft software packages
  • The ability to effectively manage a cohort of learners and complete in a timely manner, while meeting IQA/EQA standards

The roles main duties include:

  • Carrying out initial employer visits to ensure the workplace resources and opportunities are suitable to meet the requirements of the intended programme and T Level industry placement expectations, keeping appropriate records.
  • Providing initial advice and guidance to learners, parents/carers where appropriate, and employers, providing an effective induction and clearly outlining expectations and commitments of all involved
  • Keeping up to date with relevant changes as prescribed by awarding bodies, the Institute for Apprenticeships, the ESFA and other regulatory bodies
  • Working with college colleagues to ensure T Level curriculum delivery and industry placement activity remains relevant to employers and that consistency and quality standards are upheld.
  • Meeting internal and external quality assurance requirements, following relevant processes, using appropriate systems.
  • Carrying out regular progress reviews with employers and T Level learners, highlighting any concerns to the appropriate person immediately.
  • Monitoring and recording industry placement hours and learner progress against placement objectives and T Level requirements.
  • Managing and maintaining T Level learner and industry placement data and tracking progress using appropriate management information systems.
  • To create, develop and deliver appropriate training sessions in an environment which supports the personal and professional development of learners undertaking T levels programmes and industry placement
  • Assessing objectively against published criteria and ensuring learners and employers are supported to successfully complete industry placement requirements and achieve positive outcome
  • Taking responsibility for the end-to-end process of your own caseload of learners and their progression/achievement.
  • Conducting assessments within agreed timescales.
  • Making assessment decisions and feedback to candidates.
  • Ensuring security and confidentiality.
  • Contributing to the development and production of suitable marketing materials.
  • Promote the college and Child Care – related provision, including project work, with key stakeholders as appropriate

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.

Grantham College operate a 4-day working week. Staff benefit from working a full-time contract over four days. You will work core hours of Monday to Thursday, working a Friday morning once a month
