This qualification is for learners living in the UK for whom English is a second or additional language. This qualification allows learners to focus their English language development on speaking and listening.
To be able to read and write in their own language and speak a little English, eg "My name is ..."
The qualifications are available across five levels (Entry 1 to Level 2), allowing progression through the levels. Suitable for adults who are planning to live in the UK, are working towards gaining UK citizenship, who want to improve their English and achieve a qualification.
Assessment will be in the form of a speaking and listening assessment at the end of the course.
Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £25,750 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.

Students should be committed to taking the whole course and not start if they intend to move during the academic year. Students will be permitted to start this course in October upon full completion of the 3 week Introduction to UK Culture Course which runs in September. Annual holidays should not be booked during the term.
