£344 raised for BBC Children in Need with Action-Packed Week of Events
25 November 2025Grantham College pulled out all the stops for BBC Children in Need this year, raising £344 during a week of fundraising activities that brought together students, staff and of course Pudsey!
Pudsey Rocks: Fun and Games in the Sports Hall
The week kicked off on Wednesday with Pudsey Rocks, a lively event that packed the sports hall with games and challenges. Students and staff purchased tickets to try their luck at activities including ‘Guess the Number of Sweets’, a retro Pac-Man station, and even the chance to throw shaving-foam pies at brave volunteer staff members.
Pudsey Takes to the Skies at Grantham Air
On Thursday, the college’s own airline, Grantham Air, welcomed a very special guest as Pudsey Bear boarded the replica aircraft cabin. Hosted by BTEC Travel & Tourism students, the coffee and cake morning gave Pudsey a taste of life in the sky. Trainee cabin crew served refreshments and demonstrated essential in-flight safety procedures—giving Pudsey his own crash course in how to deliver the all important safety demonstration.
Pudsey Meets The Doctor in Student-Made Sci-Fi Short Film
Friday delivered a unique crossover event that delighted fans of both Doctor Who and Children in Need. Media students premiered their specially created short film, “Tiny Time Lord Trouble,” imagining how Pudsey Bear might fare as The Doctor in a battle against iconic villains the Cybermen and the Daleks. The film was shot using industry-standard equipment on location at the breathtaking Harlaxton Manor, and featured a special appearance from Sophie Aldred, beloved for her role as Ace in the classic Doctor Who series.
A Successful Week of Fundraising and Fun
A huge thank you to all that took part, the £344.38 raised will go toward supporting vital projects across the UK, highlighting the college’s continued dedication to helping children and young people thrive.
