Celebrations all round at Grantham College!

Grantham College celebrated its star students, staff and employers on Thursday 22 June at their 2023 Awards Ceremony.

The ceremony was celebrated by over 300 people including the award winners, family and friends, staff members of the college and governors.

The evening opened with Principal and Chief Executive, Paul Deane reflecting on the College’s highlights from the past academic year. Guest speaker, Anna Wooster-Man, founder and CEO of Greenio Ltd gave an inspiration speech and ignited the audience’s passion for their futures.

Over 70 course awards were given to students for going above and beyond in their subject area, ranging from Media, Animal Care, Plumbing, Business and Accounting, Access to Higher Education, Construction, Science and much more. Check our Grantham College Courses page on our website for the full list of subjects we offer.

The ultimate award to receive in their awards is the overall student of the year award. This award goes to the individual who has triumphed in the face of adversity and truly given their heart and soul to their time at college. This student has studied with the college for two years on the Level 3 Childcare programme and has constantly exhibited exceptional dedicated and a genuine passion for the subject throughout her students. Our worthy winner of the Overall Student of the Year Award was presented to Megan Martin.

We all know how hard our staff work to ensure the success and enjoyment of the students’ time here at college. This year we presented two awards, one nominated by staff and one nominated by students. These awards are a vote of thanks for all their hard work and efforts throughout the academic year. Access to Higher Education course leader, Judi Fisher won the Staff Member of the Year Award from our students and Life Skills Course Leader and SEN Support, Sarah Ellis won the Staff Member of the Year Award from our staff.

Work Experience Placement Employer of the Year Award went to Together Bridal who have gone above and beyond what we would have expected, having taken on more than one student and offering them quality hands-on work experience within the business.

Apprenticeship Employer of the Year Award went to South Kesteven District Council who accommodated apprentices recruiting across a while range of sectors. They support and mentoring they offer apprentices, to enable them to progress in their qualifications is exceptional.

Thomas Paice, a former student won the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognises the career and achievement of a past student who has made an indelible impact in their career after studying at Grantham College. Thomas attended Grantham College in the 1970’s to complete his City & Guilds Quarrying and Advanced Quarrying course and recently revisited Grantham College the ‘place where it all began’ to mark 50 years since he completed his course.

The evening concluded with drinks and photos which staff, students, family, and friends all thoroughly enjoyed

Special thanks go to sponsors who made the evening possible; Harlaxton Engineering Services Limited and LB Tech Solutions. All of which have donated very generously to make this evening possible and one more congratulations to our award winners.
