NCFE Cert Travel & Tourism/Introduction to Cabin Crew (Level 2)

Overview

This course will provide you with an understanding of the principles of the travel and tourism industry and how to work as cabin crew. The course will allow you to explore the various avenues of work within this industry, incorporating key knowledge and provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.  It will also allow you to gain transferable skills that can be applied to the workplace or further study.

3 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, or equivalent

Course Details

The objectives of these qualifications are to provide learners with a solid understanding of the travel and tourism industry and to support their progression into further study or employment within the sector. Learners will gain the essential knowledge and skills required to work effectively in various roles, with a particular focus on the aviation sector. This includes understanding the role of cabin crew, airline health, safety and security procedures, and how to respond to both planned and unplanned emergencies on board an aircraft. In addition, learners will develop the ability to sell products and services to passengers and make professional passenger announcements during flights.

While completing these qualifications, you will develop the knowledge, understanding and essential skills employers look for in employees. These range from familiar ‘key skills’ such as team working, independent learning and problem solving, to more tricky-to-measure skills such as: an appreciation for appropriate behaviour and dress, appropriate interpersonal skills, communicating with professional colleagues/peers and/or hierarchical seniors. You will learn to support other, personal manners and deportment and understanding work practices and how different roles and departments function within an organisation.

Mandatory units covered:

  • Customer service in travel and tourism
  • The UK travel and tourism industry
  • Working as cabin crew
  • Airline health, safety and security
  • Aircraft emergency situations
  • Dealing with passengers on-board an aircraft
  • Cabin service – selling techniques.
  • Making passenger announcements on-board an aircraft

A further 2 optional units are needed to complete the Level 2 Certificate in Travel and Tourism.

Assessment

The Level 2 Certificate are internally assessed and externally moderated through portfolio evidence.

Fees & Funding

Sixteen / Eighteen

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.

Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government.

Low Income / Unemployed Seeking Work

Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £25,750 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.

Additional Information

You will be required to purchase a cabin crew uniform to study and be assessed on this course.

Your Next Steps

Upon completion of this Level 2 course, you could progress to the BTEC National Diploma in Travel and Tourism (Level 3), apprenticeships or employment.
