This course is suitable for anyone with a general interest in carpentry and joinery and want to use the skills for their own benefit or for those who are wanting to re-train and go back into education and progress into becoming a trade professional.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Modules studied include:
• Introduction to health and safety in construction.
• Constructing halving joints
• Constructing housing joints And a choice of another unit from:
• Constructing through mortice and tenon joints
• Constructing angled halving joints
• Constructing bridle joints
• Constructing haunched mortice and tenon joints
• Constructing stub mortice and tenon joints
• Fixing architraves and skirtings
• Constructing and fixing hatch linings
• Fitting locks and latches
You'll be assessed via assignments and observations.
Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £25,750 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.
