This course is suitable for anyone wanting to work in a wide range of jobs in the sport sector. It provides you with the knowledge, understanding and skills that are needed to prepare for employment or university. Employment opportunities are vast in the world of sport and the careers that are available to pursue on completion of the course are as follows (but not limited to) coaching, sports psychologist, sports nutritionist, fitness instructor/personal trainer, massage therapist, sports therapist, strength and conditioning coach, sports analyst, talent identification scout, sports official, etc
5 GCSE’s at grade 4/C and above including maths and English.
The qualification covers a number of different areas of sport which will give you the base knowledge and understanding in a number of different disciplines in the sports and leisure industry. It is a two-year course that is equivalent to 3 A-levels. It consists of the units studied on the Foundation Diploma in the 1st year, with a further 7 units studied in the 2nd year, equalling the full 2-year Extended Diploma qualification.
You will study the following units in the 2nd year after successful completion of the Foundation Diploma in year 1:
Assessment will consist of a variety of written assignments, practical sports sessions, participation in sport and exercise, presentations etc. There are 4 externally assessed exams on this course (2 in the 1st foundation diploma year, 2 in the 2nd year).
Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.

Advanced Learning Loan to help with college fees on applicable course. Students won’t have to pay anything back until the end of their course and are earning £27,295 per year. Household income isn’t taken into account and there’s no credit check. Eligibility is dependent on course, nationality, and age to meet the ESFA funding eligibility criteria.
