The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is designed for learners aged 16-18 and 19+ in full-time education who want to pursue a career as a hairdresser/stylist.
Completion of Level 1 Hairdressing or equivalent. You also need 2 GCSEs at grade F/2 or above.
If you are under 19 and do not hold a GCSE grade C or higher in English and Maths, it is mandatory to work towards these qualifications while studying for your hairdressing diploma. This will require attendance of 1 hour 30 minutes per week for each Functional Skills subject, or 3 hours per week for each GCSE, if needed. Additionally, you will complete 30 hours of work experience.

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.

This course focuses on developing both the principles and practical skills needed in the hairdressing industry. It is designed to provide the occupational capability required for employment as a stylist. While the main goal of this qualification is to prepare learners for work, you may choose to further your knowledge and skills by progressing onto the VTCT Level 3 Technical Level or the Extended Diploma in Hairdressing, or even the Level 2 Certificate in Barbering.
