The VTCT Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing is designed for learners aged 16-18 and 19+ who are in full-time education and wish to develop their hairdressing skills. This qualification provides a solid foundation for further learning and prepares you to progress to the next level of vocational learning at Level 2.
2 GCSE’s grade F/2 or above.
If you're under 19 and do not hold a GCSE grade C or higher in English and Maths, it’s compulsory for you to work towards these qualifications while studying for your hairdressing diploma. You will complete Functional Skills English and/or Maths for 1 hour 30 minutes, or GCSE English and/or Maths for 3 hours.

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.

As part of the course, you’ll also have the opportunity to go on exciting trips and take part in a variety of enrichment activities at Grantham College.
