Young star Connor aiming to turn professional

Table Tennis Academy's Connor Green delighted to move to Grantham

Connor Green decided at the tender age of 12 years old to train full-time at Grantham College’s Table Tennis Academy – and is reaping the rewards.

Hailing from Nottingham, the youngster is currently ranked number 1 nationally for his age group, having secured the PG Mutual National Championship title at under-13 level.

His achievement was made all the more astonishing as he secured victory while carrying a shoulder injury.

Connor studies at Charles Read Academy but lives in residential halls in Grantham during term time, which allows him to remain committed to his training.

He says he made the choice to live away from home to give himself the best possible chance of turning professional.

Connor said of the Table Tennis Academy: “There’s more depth here than anywhere else, and the training is of the highest quality.”

The protégé hopes to be able to travel the world with his intended career, taking in locations all over Europe and further afield.

Connor also hopes his success can encourage other students to train at Grantham College full-time.

He added: “If you’re committed enough you should train here. The benefits are there for you to see.”
