Staff of Grantham College overjoyed after being rated Good by Ofsted

Great news for Grantham College following Ofsted visit.

Staff and Governors at Grantham College are delighted to have been rated Good following the recent Ofsted inspection.

Grantham College offer further and higher education courses across a range of subjects from animal care to public services and business to science. The college also has a range of apprenticeships, employer training and community learning courses on offer.

Ofsted rated the college Good in all areas including effectiveness of leadership & management, quality of teaching, learning & assessment, personal development, behaviour & welfare and outcome for learners.

Principal, Paul Deane is thrilled with the result: “It is thanks to the dedication and hard work of our staff and students that Ofsted have graded the college Good overall. We are pleased that they recognised that the college is Good across the board including provision for 16-18 year olds, Apprenticeships for all ages, provision for adults and provision for students with high needs. This confirms that Grantham College is a great place to learn and develop your career and we are confident that this will encourage more individuals and employers in the Grantham area to take advantage of the excellent services we have to offer.”

Highlights from the final report include the following:


  • Students are confident, well-behaved and respectful of each other; they enjoy learning in a safe and inclusive environment. 
  • Leaders and managers have improved the standards of teaching, learning and assessment since the previous inspection. As a result, most students make good progress. 
  • Teachers make good use of their industrial experience to prepare well-structured and interesting lessons that motivate students and help them to succeed. 
  • Apprentices make good progress from their starting points, gain valuable knowledge and skills that their employers appreciate and most achieve their qualifications by the planned end date. 
  • Most students progress into further learning or employment.  


Not only are the Ofsted inspectors impressed by the college, but the students are too according to the latest student survey in August 2017. 84% of students would recommend Grantham College as an education provider, 89% of students agree that their course meets their needs and 87% of students say that they receive the support they need to progress.

The Chair of Governors, Mos Kalbassi is proud of the college and its achievements stating “Staff and students at Grantham College should be congratulated on this achievement. The Ofsted report confirms what a great college we have in Grantham and despite all the funding challenges, it remains a great place to learn for everyone."
