Public Services students are put under pressure

RAF Wittering visit students to conduct a scenario-based humanitarian diaster.

Recently our Public Services students experienced a scenario-based logistics programme conducted by the recruitment team from RAF Wittering.

The scenario was based on a humanitarian disaster and students took on actual trade roles that they would look at if they wished to join the RAF. Students had to work out what equipment, aircraft, medical equipment, food, water and personnel should be sent and how they were going to get there with the supplies. They also had to work out how much fuel they would need for the aircraft, so maths was a big part of their calculations.

The scenario changed several times due to the ever-changing conditions in the disaster and videos were played at different times giving information. Students were put under pressure to make decisions quickly due to time constraints.
