Staff and students welcomed St Philip’s Centre from Leicester to Grantham College on Thursday 26 February for a Multi Faith Roadshow which saw over 300 students and 90 staff members learn about a variety of faiths.
Stalls dedicated to Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Humanism, Sikhism, Judaism, Baha’l and Christianity were in attendance which allowed students and staff to gain a basic understanding on each faith and taste traditional foods. There was also the opportunity to try on traditional dress from some of the faiths and have heena painting which were the most popular activities undertaken during the day.
The roadshow appealed to several curriculum areas including Public Services, Health & Social Care, Hairdressing and Performing Arts & Media who could all link what they had learned during the day to part of their course.
There was a buzz around the roadshow the whole day with students in attendance saying ‘I’ve learned a lot’ and ‘It was very interesting’
The roadshow was organised by several departments within college including the chaplains to increase the awareness of a variety of faiths to students and staff.
