Media student produces work for local museum

Documentary created by Joseph Mitchell is used in local museum exhibition

Grantham Museum & Grantham College has come together to produce a documentary to form part of Grantham Museum’s “Grantham Goes Shopping” exhibition.

The documentary was created by Joseph Mitchell, a HNC Media production student and it explores the history of shopping in Grantham, how it has evolved and what the future holds for Grantham.

The documentary has already been published on Facebook and on Grantham Museum’s website where it has been viewed over 2000 times. It has now been installed in the Museum where it is being shown every ten minutes.

Project Director for Grantham Museum, David Burling says: “this excellent piece by Joseph really explores what shopping was like and brings to life the history with interviews from local people.

I am very impressed with Joseph’s work and I feel he has a very bright future ahead of him”.

Marketing Manager for Grantham College, Jaz Abeysekera said: “it’s great to see students working closely with local businesses so thank you David for letting the students have this opportunity. It’s also lovely to hear such great feedback and that you have been satisfied with their efforts”.

Grantham Museum is open 10am-4pm Thursday, Friday & Saturday and admission is free. Grantham Goes Shopping is on display until 24th February 2018.
