HNC/HND Art students enjoy workshop with professional print-maker

Professional Printmaker Sinclair Ashman inspires University Centre students

Our HNC/HND Art and Design students got some industry insight into the artistic world of printmaking on Thursday 7thFebruary. Professional printmaker, Sinclair Ashman visited throughout the morning to run a workshop on printmaking and the techniques involved.

Sinclair Ashman trained as a Graphic Designer in London in the 80s and had a wide interest in visual art. Printmaking gave Sinclair as new artistic direction and creative freedom.

Throughout the workshop, Sinclair spoke about the different techniques that he likes to use to create his highly textured artwork. Students learned that every day materials and other items such as plastic fruit bags, netting, fabrics and twigs are great for using on his printing plates.

The students thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet Sinclair and ask all about his techniques. To find out more about Sinclair Ashman, head over to his website https://sinclairashman.comor follow his Instagram https://www.instagram.com/sinclairashmanprintmaker/.
