Grantham College Business students launch their own enterprise

Our Level 3 Business Students have created “Luxjar” as part of their business venture for the Young Enterprise Scheme. Luxjar specialise in luxury jars and aim to provide excellent customer service.

Our BTEC Business Diploma course’s units have been designed strategically to help students gain knowledge but also real-life experiences which the Young Enterprise programme provides.

Students now need to be more adaptable and business minded than ever before as the field can be very competitive and is constantly changing.

As part of the Young Enterprise programme, students will need to set up and run a real-life firm for up to a year. It equips students with the skills, attitudes and entrepreneurial experience to build successful careers and achieve real business success for their future. It’s the ultimate business enterprise experience, with the option to gain a recognized qualification along the way.

Before launching their business, students conducted market research so that they had a good understanding of the market but were also able to get constructive feedback for their products. To raise start-up capital the students had a cake sale at the college where they were able to raise £106. During their launch event, they were able to introduce their venture to the public and sold 145 shares and products to the value of £67. Since then, they have been busy selling at Christmas markets and fairs, and at Little Gems, the college’s own gift shop.

Currently they have a few designs but are looking to expand into more seasonal themes such as Valentine’s Day and Easter. If you would like to get your hands on these exclusive, luxurious jars then please email Luxjar on luxjar17@gmail.com
