Grantham and Stamford meet in precision ball sport competition
A thrilling tournament was decided in its final match as students and day break attendees from Grantham College and New College Stamford faced off in a close-fought boccia competition.
The team Grantham 1, which consisted of Matthew Wright, Andrew Higgins and William Parke, secured first place out of six teams.
This was the second time Grantham College hosted a tournament for boccia, a target sport similar to bowls, following a similar event last year.
The event was assisted by Level 3 second year Sport and HNC Sport students, who acted as officials.
Lynsey Coy, activity development officer at Grantham College, was pleased with how well the tournament went down.
She said: “It was great to see students from both colleges enjoying themselves, with a healthy competitive spirit thrown into the mix.”
Gemma Cramp, who aided the competitors from Stamford, added: “The students had a brilliant day. We’d like to send our thanks to Grantham for organising and hosting the event.”
