Asymptomatic Rapid Coronavirus Testing on Staff and Students
Yesterday the government asked colleges to reduce on-site educational delivery during the week commencing 4th January. We have also been asked to prepare to conduct asymptomatic rapid coronavirus testing on staff and students starting that week. We have had no notice of this and very little detail yet on how we are to be supported to put this in place but we are being encouraged to take part and test students before a return to full face to face delivery. We will contact you with more details on this during the week commencing 4th January 2021.
The college will therefore be moving the majority of delivery to online learning for the first 5 days of next term (from Monday 4th January 2021 to Friday 8th January 2021 inclusive) with a few exceptions. Any students that need to attend site for examinations will still be able to do so. Vulnerable students and students that will be unable to access online learning off site will be able to attend site. Effectively this means that if you were attending on site during the last week of this term you can do so during the first week of term in January otherwise you should remain off site and engage in our remote delivery as per your normal timetable.
The mental and physical health and wellbeing of students and staff is our priority particularly after such a difficult year last year for everyone. We hope that by following this government guidance we can help to keep the college open and safe for everyone, reduce coronavirus transmission and reduce periods when staff and students need to self-isolate.
Delivery will continue online and any practical activities that cannot take place online will be rescheduled to later this term.
Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas
