Public Services students at Grantham College received a careers talk from the Assistant Chief Officer, Nancie Shackleton from the Lincolnshire Police department.
Nicky Beeby, HR Resourcing & Succession Planning Manager and Brian Williams, Senior Police Trainer also attended to offer careers advice to the students.
The topics and issues that were presented were on the variety of roles in the police forces including civilian roles, and different routes into the service, the application process and top tips when applying, the training progression into a fully-fledged independent officer and the impact of being in the police force has on their personal and work life.
After the talk the students then observed a minute’s silence to mark the Manchester terror attacks of which after Nancie spoke a few words about the loss of innocent life and of a fellow police officer. The students were also able to have a discussion with the guest speakers as they asked questions and got the opportunity to have conversations at a personal level.
The careers talk was able to inspire the students as many went away with applications for the next intake.
