Lent was traditionally a time for Christians to fast and give up eating certain foods.

Many people cut out certain luxuries or indulgences in a bid to become healthier or to save money, but why not take this opportunity to get rid of some of your bad habits.

By cutting out one bad habit for 40 days you can start making positive changes to your life. Here are 5 toxic habits that you can give up this Lent.

1.Procrastination

Make these 40 days count by being productive and just getting on with your work. Not only will you be able to complete all those endless tasks that you have been meaning to do but you will also feel liberated, energized and ready to tackle anything that comes your way.

2.Social Media

Most of us end up wasting a lot of valuable time by aimlessly scrolling through our social media accounts. If you can’t give up Social Media for the whole 40 days at least try limiting the hours you are spending online. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much time you now have.

3.Being Late

When you are running late you feel rushed, disorganised and are in a bad mood. By being on time not only will other appreciate your punctuality but you will also feel good.

4.Being negative

Having negative thoughts will only limit you from feeling your best and missing out on all the great opportunities. So instead of dwelling on all the things that are not going well be grateful and try to see things in a more positive light.

5.Gossiping about other people

We all enjoy a juicy gossip with our friends but when you are constantly talking ill of others it only reflects on your character and can have a negative effect on your self-esteem in the long run.
