Grantham is the Midlands‘ best kept secret – a vibrant market town in which to shop and socialise, bordered by green countryside and just 30 minutes from Nottingham and one hour from London.
It has gained world recognition as the birthplace of scientist Sir Isaac Newton and Lady Margaret Thatcher – Britain‘s first female Prime Minister.
From quaint old pubs to cafes, bars and clubs – there are loads of places to eat, drink, relax and meet friends. Relaxed bistros, fine restaurants and fast food of every variety mean you won‘t go hungry, either.
You can pick up the essentials at 24-hour supermarkets or indulge in some retail therapy at the two shopping centres, featuring department stores, high street names and designer shops.
Enjoy the countryside of the Vale of Belvoir, visit the castle and local stately homes.
Discover a rich local culture; check out the town‘s museum, distinctive spired church, ancient buildings and historic pubs! Whatever your sport, you‘ll find local facilities for swimming, squash, badminton, football, climbing and more. Work out at a choice of gyms or get fit right here at the college.
Warm and welcoming whether you‘re local or from farther afield, with so much on offer, you‘ll find Grantham is exactly where you want to be.
The town has many buildings of historical interest as well as offering a wealth of modern amenities including:
- Arts Centre
- Leisure Centre with swimming pool
- Numerous restaurants and cafes
- Sports stadium
- Ten-pin bowling alley
The town’s location is ideal. Situated in the centre of England, close to the A1 main road it is easy for students to travel anywhere in the UK. There are also excellent air and rail links, with London just one hour away by train. The cities of Nottingham, York, Lincoln, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh are all within easy travelling distance.
You are encouraged to enjoy the British way of life and to experience cultural differences. The College plans a wide range of activities so that you get to know the local area. These include visits to stately homes, castles and the historic local cities of Nottingham and Lincoln.
