An exciting opportunity has arisen for a GCSE & FS English Lecturer to join our Skills for Life department.

The purpose of the role is to demonstrate a high-quality professional practice and provide quality teaching, learning and assessment at a variety of levels. Devise action plans and maintain appropriate records.

 

The successful applicant must have:

  • Qualifications to a teacher status – PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, DTLLS or equivalent or willing to work towards

  • Qualifications to teach GCSE and Functional Skills English up to and including Level 2

  • Ability to work effectively with young people and adults

  • Experience in the delivery of GCSE and Functional Skills English up to and including Level 2

The roles main duties include:

  • To teach, using an appropriate mix of traditional, e-learning and blended learning approaches, on a range of courses within the curriculum area and across areas.

  • To take responsibility for specific areas of work within the curriculum area including course leadership if required.

  • To provide support and guidance to students.

  • To carry out administrative duties associated with teaching, including maintenance of registers, schemes of work, assessments, reports, course records and course evaluations to a satisfactory standard and within established deadlines.

  • To assist in the recruitment of students, including interviewing and enrolments.

  • To assist with the enrolment process, including initial and diagnostic assessments to support the students’ progression

  • To organise and plan exam dates with the examination team and the English, Maths and ESOL team to meet the needs of the department
