Grantham College has been awarded £1887 of National Lottery funding from Sport England’s Movement Fund to develop of our ‘Let’s Move Project’.

The ‘Let’s Move Project’ was designed for clients of the Day Break Centre – a purpose-built day care centre for young adults with learning and/or physical disabilities. It will give them the opportunity to try a variety of specially adapted sports to boost their physical and mental well-being. The team aspect of the sports will enhance the participants’ communication abilities, foster better interactions and advance their individual development.

Grantham has a wide range of opportunities for people with disabilities with organisations such as the tennis club, squash club and Belvoir Cricket and Countryside Trust all providing excellent facilities and trained staff. This project has given the participants an opportunity to access these that they would not otherwise have been able to do.

Sarah shared, “We are delighted to have secured this investment. Our clients of the Day Break Centre have been participating in a variety of sessions, and they have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is making a noticeable impact on many of our clients’ confidence and communication skills.”
“Thank you to everyone who plays the National Lottery, we wouldn’t be able to do this without you.”
