As part of the Safer Streets Project, funded by South Kesteven District Council, students at Grantham College recently participated in a series of self-defence classes and community safety presentations designed to equip them with essential skills for staying safe in their local community.
The self-defence classes were delivered by EWF Martial Arts Grantham, while key community safety sessions were led Senior Neighbourhood Officer and Domestic Violence Officer from South Kesteven District Council, alongside the Town Centre Beat Manager from Lincolnshire Police.
Students were split into two groups: one participated in self-defence training, while the other attended the community safety presentations, before swapping over. The hour-long presentations covered key topics, followed by a Q&A session where students could engage directly with officers.
Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the value of these sessions in increasing awareness and personal safety.
