Grantham’s Culture in the Community event is once again set to shine a spotlight on the rich and diverse cultural landscape that makes our town so vibrant. From inspiring storytelling and literary support to lively arts and local networks, this community celebration offers something for everyone. In the run up to the event we’re showcasing some of the groups that will be there on the day.
National Women’s Register (NWR)
Since the mid 1960’s NWR National Women’s Register is a national organisation for lively minded women. The local Grantham group has a yearly programme of events including visiting the theatre or cinema, lunches and meeting up with other members who have moved away. When not taking part in events, they meet up once a week for a social coffee morning, and one week as a discussion group with occasional speakers.

Grantham Arts CIC aims to support and facilitate artists and those yet to discover their artistic talents during our courses and beyond. Their desire is to create workshops and classes that can be accessed by professional and amateur artists or those who would like to try a new medium or learn new artistic skills. We create opportunities to join in with community art projects such as the parade of sheep in Grantham’s Market Place last year to celebrate Grantham’s Historical Sheep Market and involvement in the wool trade.

The Association of Speakers Clubs is inclusive for all, and people join for a variety of reasons. People can come and prepare themselves for presentations or wedding speeches, to help with promotion opportunities and work development, and some come just because they enjoy the evenings so much. Whatever your reason or your level of speaking to an audience, Newark and Lincoln speakers’ clubs are the place to come.
Our first aim is to give you the confidence to stand and speak to an audience and then help with your speaking techniques. There is no pressure but loads of encouragement, constructive feedback and praise in a warm welcoming environment.
In the North Midlands Area, we have five clubs with nine meetings a month and as well as in person meetings, The Lincoln Speakers Club also meet once a month online as it so important in this modern world to be able communicate effectively to a screen.
For more information contact Martin Cox the North Midlands Area President at martin.cox1@outlook.com

Grantham RiverCare will be attending for the third consecutive year!
Their dedicated volunteers are the driving force behind the regular litter picks that keep the River Witham, as it meanders through Grantham, cleaner and healthier. Their activities go beyond litter collection, and they now actively participate in the global Fresh Water Watch project, meticulously monitoring the river’s health through water quality testing, including the measurement of crucial nitrate and phosphate levels.
Grantham RiverCare maintains a strong community presence and their long-standing dedication has been acknowledged, most notably with the prestigious BBC Radio Lincolnshire ‘Green Champion’ Make A Difference Award in 2021. They warmly invite you to come and chat with our friendly volunteers to discover more about Grantham RiverCare and the impactful work they do to protect and cherish our local River Witham.
