Smiles, hugs, and squeals of delight filled the air this morning as students at Grantham College & University Centre collected their GCSE results. Staff joined students and their families to celebrate their achievements in English and Maths, and look ahead to the exciting opportunities awaiting the Class of 2025.
A number of full-time students are now looking forward to exciting next steps at Grantham College & University Centre. Neuza, Torrie, Riley and Phoenix all achieved the grades they needed to progress to the next level of their Animal Care course, while Austin was delighted to secure a Grade 5 in English, allowing him to begin a Level 3 Graphic Design course alongside his ambition of becoming a creative writer.

Elizabeth, who was named Student of the Year at the College’s Awards Ceremony in June, added a Grade 4 in Maths to her achievements and is going to university in September.

David and Milly both celebrated a Grade 4 in English and will remain at the College, with David progressing into Mechanics and Milly into Beauty. Other students are also continuing their learning journeys. Chris achieved a Grade 4 in Maths and is moving onto IT Level 2, while Blue celebrated the same grade in Maths before taking the next step in Performing Arts at Nottingham.

Several part-time learners also celebrated success, after balancing their studies with busy work and family lives. Allison, Laura, Anna, Vicky and Amy all achieved grades 4, 5 and 6 in GCSE Maths. For Allison, the challenge was a personal one, taken on simply to prove to herself that she could succeed. Laura is now preparing to progress onto an Access course with the long-term goal of becoming a midwife, while Anna will continue her studies in September with GCSE Combined Science. Vicky, a teaching assistant at a local school, needed the qualification to support her role, and Amy, also a teaching assistant, marked the achievement with her two children, who had proudly promised her sweets if she passed.

Other students are using their results as a springboard into exciting new careers with the Armed Forces. Kenny secured the grade 4 in English he needed to pursue a career in Marine Engineering with the Army. Michael, who was previously home-schooled before studying Public Services at the College, achieved a Grade 4 in Maths and a Grade 5 in English and is now progressing to T Levels as he prepares to join the RAF.

Speaking about the results, Judi Fisher, Curriculum Leader English, Maths, ESOL and Access to HE of Grantham College & University Centre, said: “Today is about celebrating success, achievement and progression of all our students.’
