BTEC First Certificate Performing Arts (Level 2)

Overview

This qualification offers learners the opportunity to develop their technical skills through a process of exploration, practice and review. In addition to the sector specific content available in this qualification, the requirements mean that learners develop the transferable skills that are needed to progress into further education and ultimately higher education and employment for example communication, planning and managing projects and creative problem solving. The qualification also supports learners in becoming more confident in taking ownership of and responsibility for their own direction, work and choices.

Am I Ready?

3 GCSE’s at grade D/3 or above.

Course Details

Learners taking this qualification with study 3 mandatory units: Skills development for performing arts; Preparing for a performing arts production; Performing Arts production.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed internally through assignments and synoptic assessment. The synoptic assessment is based on the unit Performing Arts Production where learners must take part in productions using various resources, techniques and processes to develop and refine material before presenting final pieces, using the various practical skills and technical knowledge gained throughout the course. Learners will gain a graded qualification to reflect their achievement unclassified, pass, merit and distinction, in which all units contribute to the overall grade.

Fees & Funding

Sixteen / Eighteen

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.

Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government.

Low Income / Unemployed Seeking Work

Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £20,319 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.
