Supported Internship Programme

Overview

The Supported Internship Programme course at level 1 is for learners who want focus on working towards a paid job, in their chosen field. It also offers learners who are working at Level 2 the opportunity to improve on their own personal development towards employment. The course embeds the meaning of ‘learn on the job’, as learners will carry out work experience twice a week. They are also required to spend half a day in college, for the written assessment part of the course. The learners may also be required to undertake Functional Skills or GCSEs if this has not been obtained prior to the course.

Course Details

The course incorporates the employability outcomes, by covering the units of Applying for Work and Interview Skills, whilst undertaking work experience twice weekly. Learners will learn how to search for a job, write a CV, Direct and Speculative cover letters, how to fill in an application form in correctly and interview skills. They will also learn how to prepare for interviews, including how to conduct themselves and appropriate dress. Whilst on work experience, they will be asked to complete a workbook, for evidence purposes. A one-hour tutorial session is included in the study programme where you will meet with your tutor once a week, either 1:1 or in a small group and you will discuss areas such as progress in your placement and we will work together on your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) targets.

Fees & Funding Academic Year 2024/25

Sixteen / Eighteen

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.

Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government.

Low Income / Unemployed Seeking Work

Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £25,000 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.

Your Next Steps

Learners will be able to progress into a workplace or onto apprenticeships.
