The Supported Internship Programme course at level 1 is for learners who want focus on working towards a paid job, in their chosen field. It also offers learners who are working at Level 2 the opportunity to improve on their own personal development towards employment. The course embeds the meaning of ‘learn on the job’, as learners will carry out work experience twice a week. They are also required to spend half a day in college, for the written assessment part of the course. The learners may also be required to undertake Functional Skills or GCSEs if this has not been obtained prior to the course.
No formal qualifications required.
The course incorporates the employability outcomes, by covering the units of Applying for Work and Interview Skills, whilst undertaking work experience twice weekly. Learners will learn how to search for a job, write a CV, Direct and Speculative cover letters, how to fill in an application form in correctly and interview skills. They will also learn how to prepare for interviews, including how to conduct themselves and appropriate dress. Whilst on work experience, they will be asked to complete a workbook, for evidence purposes. A one-hour tutorial session is included in the study programme where you will meet with your tutor once a week, either 1:1 or in a small group and you will discuss areas such as progress in your placement and we will work together on your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) targets.
