NCFE Certificate Principles of Dementia Care (Level 2)

This course is designed for anyone who wishes to understand more about dementia and will be highly valuable to people who support those with the condition, in a personal or professional capacity.

There are no formal entry requirements however learners should be aged 19 or above at the start of the academic year to undertake this qualification.  Learners must be able to read and understand the learning resources and complete the written work with moderate assistance and will therefore benefit from having a reasonable understanding of reading and writing the English language. YOU CAN START THIS COURSE AT ANY TIME THROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC YEAR BUT THERE IS AN EXPECTATION THAT YOU WILL COMPLETE WITHIN TWELVE WEEKS.  FAILURE TO COMPLETE THE COURSE WILL INCUR A £50 ADMINISTRATION CHARGE.

There are 3 modules to complete whi ch cover the following topics.

• Dementia awareness 
• The person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
• Communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
• Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care
• Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach
• Understand behaviour in the context of dementia social care
• Understand the benefits of engaging in activities in social care

Hallmark’s learning materials comprise a set of high-quality workbooks, which have been produced to suit a range of delivery methods. Learners will be provided with all the necessary materials to complete the programme and will have the opportunity to work through a series of reflective activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge. The learning materials also include an assessment, which allows learners to complete a portfolio of evidence and demonstrates achievement of all learning outcomes associated with each unit. A comprehensive tutor guide is supplied to accompany these materials.

Low Income / Unemployed Seeking Work

Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £20,319 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.

By undertaking this programme candidates will be able to further their own continuous professional development, which may improve their career prospects, or they can progress on to further qualifications such as courses in health and social care or related subjects.
