The Level 1 Certificate in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development is specially designed to introduce learners to the working environment. This can be tailored specifically to a chosen designation in the following sectors: Catering, Construction, Health and Social Care, ICT, Science, Sport and Leisure. This course also includes mandatory units, which focuses on generic employability skills to prepare, encourage and build confidence for individual learners in the workplace. The qualification also contains units to enhance personal development, vocational studies, literacy and numeracy. There are no formal entry requirements for learners undertaking these qualifications.

A range of topics will be covered such as: The business environment, Business communication, Undertaking an Enterprise Project, Interpersonal Skills, investigating a Career, Presentation Skills, Team Leading Skills, Problem Solving in the Workplace, Using Email, Using the Internet and Word Processing Software.
Learners must provide evidence of learning and achievement against all of the assessment criteria specified within each unit. This is compiled by a range of activities to ensure assignment completion. Evidence collected may take the form of Case studies, Oral questions and answers, Reports, Reflective log or diary, Practical demonstration, Written questions and answers in the style of tests and exams.
Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.
