Edexcel BTEC HND Sport and Exercise Science (Coaching Science) (Level 5)

Overview

This qualification in Sports Coaching & Sports Development is designed to develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of those interested in sport, sports coaching and sports development. The course will apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations, explore how barriers to participation can affect performance and how initiatives are designed to widen participation. It will also provide opportunities to develop and deliver coaching sessions which will meet the needs of sports performers regardless of age or ability. There will also be opportunities for industry validated qualifications. Whilst studying on this course you may have the opportunity to study a Higher Education course with the Football Centre of Excellence. The HNC will be awarded on successful completion of 120 credits and the HND on the achievement of 240 credits. The units for this programme have been selected to offer a broad and balanced spectrum of the sports industry within the 21st century.

Am I Ready?

A minimum of 48 UCAS points from a Level 3 programme. You will also require grade C/4 or above in GCSE maths and English or a Level 2 equivalent. You will be required to attend an interview prior to acceptance where you will be expected to provide a reference.

Assessment

Assessment will be carried out for each unit studied through a variety of methods including written assignments, research projects, presentations, practicals and, on occasions, an exam.
