NCFE Certificate Principles of Cyber Security (Level 2)

Overview

This qualification is suitable for those looking to gain a greater understanding or build upon their existing knowledge of Cyber Security issues. This will likely be with a view to studying the subject at a higher level and/or seeking employment in a Cyber Security related role.

The qualification is delivered using our online portal. You will need access to a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone to complete it.
Am I Ready?

There are no formal entry requirements however learners should be aged 19 or above at the start of the academic year to undertake this qualification however a Level 1 or a Level 2 in IT would be advantageous.  Learners must be able to read and understand the learning resources and complete the written work with moderate assistance and will therefore benefit from having a reasonable understanding of reading and writing the English language. Course Details

YOU CAN START THIS COURSE AT ANY TIME THROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC YEAR BUT THERE IS AN EXPECTATION THAT YOU WILL COMPLETE WITHIN TWELVE WEEKS.  FAILURE TO COMPLETE THE COURSE WILL INCUR A £50 ADMINISTRATION CHARGE.

This course is a level 2 introduction to cyber security. Upon successful completion, the learner will gain an NCFE level 2 qualification which can lead into further study within the cyber security field.

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully complete all six mandatory units:

Introduction to cyber security;

Understand terminology used in cyber security;

Understand legal and ethical aspects of cyber security;

Understand common threats to cyber security;

Understand methods of maintaining cyber security and Working with others in cyber security.

Assessment

This is a competency and knowledge based qualification which is internally assessed and externally quality assured.

Fees & Funding

Sixteen / Eighteen

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.

Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government.

Low Income / Unemployed Seeking Work

Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £20,319 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.
