Suitable for anyone with an interest cats and dogs and their possible first aid needs, also suitable for anyone looking to go into the veterinary care assistant role course includes an introduction to animal first aid, including the rules, aims and limitations of animal first aid, contents of an animal first aid box and there uses in animal emergencies. Assessing emergencies, reporting emergencies, and transporting animals to veterinary treatment. The course will also cover the treatment required for common first aid emergencies including, CPR, recovery position, how to treat chocking, bleeding, stings and bites, shock, hypo / hyperthermia. With a look into common household poisons and their effects on animals and what to do if an animal has contact with or ingests a poisonous substance.

Practical observation of first aid scenarios and end of course quiz
PPE will be needed but this can be provided, pens and paper for note taking
Level 1 diploma working in land based (animal care)
