C&G Diploma in Land Based Studies (Animal Care) (Level 1)

Suitable for anyone with an interest in working with or caring for animals.

3 GCSEs at grade F/1 in English Language, maths and science.

Level 1 in Work - based Animal Care is a one - year programme reflecting the skills and knowledge needed to carry out a job effectively under supervision. The qualification is made up of both core and optional units covering a wide range of knowledge areas: 

• Safe & effective working practices in land-based industries
• Develop performance
• Assist with maintaining the health & wellbeing of animals
• Animals in the wild
• Assist with feeding & watering animals
• Assist with the preparation & maintenance of animal accommodation
• Assist with the handling & restraint of animals

Sixteen / Eighteen

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.

Low Income / Unemployed Seeking Work

Students that are unemployed and currently seeking work, or on a low income of up to £20,319 per annum may be able to enrol to a course at Level 2 or below free of charge. This is a government initiative and the course offer is subject to change. Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government. This does not affect your rights under Consumer Law.

Successful completion of this course will enable progression onto a Level 2 qualification, employment or apprenticeships in animal care.
