This course will suit people who have a genuine interest in Art & Design subjects. You will have the opportunity to explore a broad range of processes and media within each discipline and build Art & Design skills and knowledge.
5 GCSE’s at grade 4/C or a Level 2 Diploma Art and Design (merit).
The Level 3 National Diploma Art & Design Practice is the first year of the two year Level 3 Extended Diploma Art & Design Practice course and can be taken as a stand alone qualification or as the first year of a two year programme.
In year one students will study: Exploring and Developing Art & Design Skills – This is a variety of investigations within Art and Design, including research methods to inform ideas for set projects and live project briefs, problem solving skills, creative technical skills including observational drawing, visual recording including photography, printmaking, mark making, mixed media, digital skills using industry creative Adobe software, 3D making techniques, professional skills and communication skills.
In year two students will study: Advancing Creative Practice – personal investigation into creative careers, developing strategy for careers progression for higher education, technical practice, developing communication skills to support progression and respond to a creative brief. In year two, you will also have the option of completing a Level 4 assessment unit: Critical Self-Appraisal.
The aim of this course is to give you a broad overview into a range of specialisms of new and traditional art and design processes. Through using a multidisciplinary approach you will explore a range of creative practices allowing you work across a variety of media.

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.
Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government.
Advanced Learning Loan to help with college fees on applicable course. Students won’t have to pay anything back until the end of their course and are earning £27,295 per year. Household income isn’t taken into account and there’s no credit check. Eligibility is dependent on course, nationality, and age to meet the ESFA funding eligibility criteria.
Whilst on the L3 National Diploma Art and Design or the L3 National Extended Diploma Art & Design course students will be able to work on Live project briefs for clients, take part in workshops with guest lecturers and complete thirty hours creative work experience.
This course will enable you to prepare a portfolio of art and design work and will equip you with the necessary skills to seek employment within the art and design industry.
